My son is 6 years old and been on risperidone 0.25 mg twice a day. It had been wonderful until these past couple week. Our phamarcy changed the brand so im not sure if its the brand change or he needs up the dosage?
My son has been taking risperidone for quite some time now and the same thing has recently happened to us. My experience is it has to do with the manufacturer. I was able to get the remaining quantity of his original generic manufacturer and he had no problems. Once we had to go back to what was available, I noticed he would get irritated easily, more emotional, etc... I have been searching, calling pharmacy to pharmacy to find one that carries the certain manufacture with no luck. People say "oh, it's the same active ingredient. What's the big deal?" It's a huge deal to me when my 11 y/o and myself can notice he's now on a rollercoaster of emotions when he's completely fine with the other. The active ingredient may be the same but the additives/fillers are not. There is no way each manufacturer can get the chemical analysis the same as the others with the different additives/fillers they use.
