Very concerned. I was notified a few hours ago that my 7yr old granddaughter has been prescribed such a heavy antipsychotic medication. She was sexually assaulted by the schizophrenic boyfriend of my daughter. She has been in twice a week therapy at home, also has anger issues from not being able to verbalize everything that happened over a four year period. I am searching for help for her. Poor little girl does not need to be heavily sedated, she needs to be able to get help in recovery from her multiple trauma. Please help me & pray for this precious angel. Thank you
Well think about how she must feel if she can't or wont speak about it, she needs meds as children can't process trauma and the meds help you more receptive to the therapy. Not to be rude but the Dr's know better than you do. Meds and therapy are proven to be more effective together
What was she diagnosed with? This isn't an uncommon prescription for kids. The sedation effect does get better after as few weeks. If you have concerns being them up with her doctor. I've found it to help a lot with flashbacks and night terrors. It did make me very sleepy for a couple weeks but I got used to it.
