Yes, I'm also fairly shocked by this. Antipsychotics have such a high rate of side effects, I am just really surprised that this would be a first-line course of treatment. How has his weight been doing? Also, has he formed gynecomastia (male breasts), or what looks to be the beginning of it? There was a MASSIVE settlement by Johnson & Johnson over the use of Risperdal in young boys, some who grew breasts as large as D cups.
I take klonopin for long-term anxiety control, but that may be only appropriate for an adult. Risperdal for a child, though... that really surprises me.
