My husband has been on 500 mg of valproic acid and 10 mg of olanzapine for 2 weeks now. I haven t seen much change. The doctor told me I should have seen it already and told me to increase the dose to 750 mg . Does anybody know the right combination dose dor these two meds?
Flo; There really is no exact dose this is more a person to person type of combination. The best you can do is the doctor raise's the dose little by little and see's what the results for that patient is. And that Valproic acid has plenty of room for adjustments just keep in contact with the doctor and try and give your husband his medications about the same time each day. At some point the doctor may want to run a blood test on him to make sure of the Valproic acid level. But really this is kind of a wait and see nothing is normal with this combination. Again make sure you keep the doctor informed. Hope your doing okay don't forget you have to take care of yourself too. Chuck1957
