... having some ups and downs emotionally, as well as the ups and downs physically. I have had two severe episodes this year of excruciating pain this year, was treated with prednisone packs. The first time it worked. This second time it didn't. I pushed to see a rheumatologist and finally as diagnosed. I am in my late fifties, but have been going thru episodes of pain on both sides of my body, in all my joints at the same time since my forties. I had been tested, but tests were "borderline". I felt like I was going crazy or a hypochondriac. But, now that I do have the diagnosis, I do feel emotional about. Any tips on dealing with all of this?
First off, so sorry for your diagnosis! I was diagnosed 10 years ago when I was 50 with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis.
I was started on prednisone but gained 50lbs on it. Then I was put on Humira and have had great relief. It is a biologic. See if you doc can recommend a biologic for you. They are expensive if you have to pay for it. But many companies have patient assistance programs to help you get medicine cheap or for free even!
