I should be on something but I give up and quit. I can't wait 1 or two years for results and all the side effects that everyone talks about font seem like a great trade off. However my marriage of 35 years is about to end, I can't function and want to quit a good job and suicidal thoughts are increasing. I don't really believe there is a chemical cure that could work
Hi, NoFaith! I hear your depression talking. Have you ever given medication/therapy a fair trial? First off, less than 10% of patients, mostly far less than 10%, ever experience any side effects at all. It doesn't take a year to see results but rather 3-6 weeks for most people.
Remember that most of what you hear is the minority of people who have had bad experiences and often not as a result of the drugs themselves but their own non-compliance.
Millions and millions and millions of happy, healthy people gave it the extra push and are now enjoying fulfilling and productive lives. Mental illness hurts and overcoming it isn't easy but it can be done and I know you can do it too.
What about having your husband join you in a therapy program as it doesn't sound like you have much of a support system.
That being said, to answer your question, Rexulti can be used alone for some purposes but is best used as an add-on to a good antidepressant.
I'm sorry you're suffering so badly. Try to find the strength and courage to reach out for help. It can only get better for you.
Good luck and best wishes! Wildcat
