I have diabetes since 2011. I had an abscess Nov. 7th and got it cut open and drain under my left breast. I been taking clindamycin 3 times a day since last Saturday when I went to the ER. I am packing it, but I have another large one on my left flank with low grade fever of 99.9. I also had a small one burst on its own today. I drain it, clean it and cover with a band-aide. Should I go back to the ER or wait until my temp is 102? Is there anyway to prevent these? Why do I only get them on the left side of my body? That weird. Nothing works and I'm tired going to the ER every 3 months.
The best way to stop it is antibiotics and keep your blood sugar under tight control. If you have high blood sugars it supports bacteria growth. You need to see an infection control dr, before you are running a high temp. That infection isn't going away. This is should not be emergency treatment, this requires a dr who deals with this on a regular basis. Have they cultured them?
