My tear glands don't work. My tear ducts have been permanently closed. I have been on Restasis for 3.5 months with no change. Does there come a point in time when I can say, Restasis failed?
Linda, I gave up after 2 years plus. Too expensive with no noticeable difference. My problems came after Lasik Surgery - probably had slightly dry eye before and the surgery just pushed me over the edge. Wish I hadn't done it! However, I do find that Lacrisert really helps. BUT, it you let it melt and it gets stuck in your eyelashes it's a bear to wash out. Oh yes, the tear duct in my left eye is closed as well. Good luck.
I had a stem cell transplant in 2009 or 2010--can't remember exactly. I now have SICCA (dry eyes and dry mouth). The oncologist seems to think this is now chronic GVHD. So does that Rheumatologist that I saw. So the ophthalmologist has prescribed me Restasis that I have been using since January 2015. I put 1 drop of Restasis in my left eye in the morning and at bedtime. Now I have many days that I feel like I have the flu feeling. I also have somewhat of blurry vision off and on in my left eye. Can you tell me more of your symptoms please. I feel like the Restasis is not doing much good, also. I use the preservative free eye drops in the vials (70 per package at Wamart) for about $15 a box. I seem to put a drop in my left eye about every 15 minutes.
I have my tear ducts closed and have been on restasis for 3 weeks. I do notice a difference. I still have dry eyes but I can see longer between lubricating drops. Meds are horrible in causing dry eyes. I have noticed improvement with omega-3 and vita-e. It is expensive and at this point I am going to continue.
