Acyclovir daily controls it, is this permanent? If I take acyclovir one a day no rash on my tailbone. Miss about three days and the rash appears. Back on acyclovir and can prevent the blistering - it slowly disappears until I miss pills again. Is this going to be a permanent problem I thought shingles was a temp problem?
No. Acyclovir can only treat on the onset of shingles. You had probably been taking it for too long. I had used Cipro for my clients' shingles. It's much stronger than Acyclovir. Better talk to your doctor about that. Most of the doctors would not prescribe Cipro for shingles as it's normally used to treat UTI.
