What can cause total Renal Failure?

I also have Multiple Sclerosis. Yes I was on meds big time I asked both the kidney doc and my Neurologist if it could've been fro medication but the both insist no. I never totally belived either one. Just the pain meds I was on, Percocet #10 every 6 hrs for break through pain,75md Fentynal patch (Duregesic) and I had just started Lyrica when I had the failure. Now I was also on Soma.klonopin, seroquel and Rebif)M.S. med I went through pure hell. hallucinations, paranoia, behavioral change, hearing things you name it it happened heck at one time I remember them asking me my name and birthday and I honestly couldn't think, I did not know. I wound up on dialysis for 2 months. Thankfully my kidney's repsponded well and I didn't suffer any permanent damage. The reason I posted the question is because I am deathly afraid it could happen again. If there is a way to avoid this I will do it. I do honestly think it was the meds but they still say no.
Please see the link below about acute renal failure. It states the possible causes and has other information as well.
I am sorry to hear of your problem. I can only comment from my own experience, when my kidney function was fine (following a full blood count) I then took an antibiotic and a week later I was in renal failure stage 1, which fortunately was picked up on another blood test and I was rushed into the Renal Unit as a matter of emergency, fortunately the kidney inflammation was treatable with steroids and my kidney function is now normal. I'm sure by now you will able to get on to a treatment programme for your kidney function. Thinking back, were you taking any meds prior to your kidney failure? Antibiotics or pain killers can cause a problem with the kidney function, and it might be as well to monitor any meds in the future. The doctors at the renal Unit asked me about all the meds I'd been on and eventually told me that the kidney failure was medication induced.Hope your health will pick up and your kidney function will improve. Best wishes bacterial
