I just started taking remeron 15mg and find it hard to be alert the next day. Will this wear off as I take it for awhile?
The older antidepressants tend to do this at first. It usually wears off pretty rapidly. Try taking your pill a little earlier in the evening. I take one too, not remeron but close, I take it 2 hrs before sleep, then it works at bedtime, not later, and I am alert earlier. Once I'm up and moving I feel ok.
Hello - I take Remeron 30mg and have been on it 5+ yrs. I recently had other serious medical problems and let the Remeron run out, and I even had refills, so I was REALLY sick with Crohns Flare. After missing 6 days of Remeron in the middle of Crohns flare up, I think I started w/ds. Couldn't sleep, eat, and felt very panicky, even afraid, and don't know why. Yesterday I finally got back on the stuff and am feeling a little sleepier than my use b4 missing. Not missed more than a dose or 2 at most in 5 yrs. During that time (the 5 yrs) I did start out having a hard time waking up and just did not want to get up. That went away after about 3-4 weeks. B4 messing up my schedule, I found that as long as I DIDN'T take with other meds made a big difference. I take a lot of meds and have a routine that has me taking meds 4 times a day. And Remeron is the last thing I take at night, at least a couple of hours after taking scheduled meds.
When multiple meds are involved, a regular routine helps me NOT get the bad interactions that are possible. 15mg is not as strong so based on my experience I'd say, hang in there, take at about same time each night. "Life" happens and that is not always possible, but try to be close, try not to take with other meds, and I think you will feel much better in 2-3 weeks. Takes a little time to get in your system. When I stick to the routine I found thru trial and error, I find that this med works very well. We are all different, and not all works for all, but, at least give it a chance to work. It has helped me.My daily "fog" was gone during week 3. Good luck, let me know if I can help in any way.
