I have been on dexamethasone for quite some time for breathing problems associated with multiple slow growing lung tumours.
Its improved my breathing and cough enormously and my appetite.
Unfortunately it causes me to have severe stomach pain which no painkiller can seem to take away.
I have been weaned off of them now but still experiencing these terrible pains.
Can you tell me what I can do or take for this as I am unable to function due to this. My gp has prescribed omeprazole which is hardly going to work!
Im willing to go down the route of any alternative therapy or anything you could recommend.
Please help as am having no luck with gp etc!
What can I do to relieve severe tomach pains after being on dexamethason?

Why do you think omeprazole won't work? That's exactly what you need. You also need some maalox or one of them to soothe your stomach. Dexamethasone probably gave you an ulcer. I'm not crazy about your attitude with the dr, like you know whats wrong with you and he isn't treating you. I've had 9 ulcers, from NSAIDS and I know that omeprazole will get rid of them. I know what the pain is like and I know no pain med will help it.
I don't understand why you think the med the Dr gave you for the symptom is not going to work. Have you tried it?
I Would consider going to a gasatroenterologist
I would also use things to line your stomach like yogurt or buttermilk
I would make sure I stayed off coffee and sodas
I would also make sure my stomach was not empty by eating small amounts6-7 times a day
I agree about the Maalox but that too is a temporary solution to what could be a bigger problem since you are already off the Meds
Take care

I meant it just to soothe until the omeprozole starts working.
Many thanks, will give all a go and try omeprazole again for a longer period.
Hopefully it will work this time.
Take care and thanks again.

Thank you for your reply and tips, will def give both a try as you seem to have gone through quite a lot yourself.
Can't really post everything thats happened at my doctors so therefore you don't know what's happened in the past. In saying that, I find you quite rude at how you have judged me and my opinion.
Many thanks though for your advice
