my buddy was taking suboxone 8mg daily for 3 months... his insurance stopped covering him and he relapsed. anywho... he has access to some suboxone 8mg strips. i was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to quickly taper and be off of suboxone within a weeks time
You can't expect the neurotransmitters and receptor sites in the brain to recover that fast. I do understand being broke and being on suboxone VERY VERY well, but my suggestion for him would be to take the least amount of suboxone he can and go as long as he can. Example, 2 mgs(will be one quarter of film) and go at least 36 hours, tell him try for 48 and start walking for exercise if he is physically able and it is warm enough where he is. This helps reboot the damaged neurotransmitters and receptor sites in the brain and stimulate them to work when needed. It is when those are working that he will not be in withdrawal or have symptoms. Tell him also there is a generic for subutex ( the sister medication) that is out and is only around $2.50 per pill. That might help as well. After 3 months, he can try dropping to 2 or 4 mgs and see how he feels, he may do just fine.
