There are other things they can try. AND KNOW YOU ARE THERE but you can't feel guilty or this drive you nuts. Your a very good friend but there is only so much you can do. Give your friend this information these people don't call it in etc it private and your friend may get some very good help and information from them. When I tried so many ways to stop the pain and nothing worked, I too was scared that my life would never get better. But I was lucky to find an RSD specialist in PA, who also has RSD, and my outlook changed. He always makes me feel understood and well taken care of. Since there aren't many specialists in RSD, my doctor may know others in the country. I will contact his office and see if there's anyone he could recommend in Indiana. I'm the mean time, RSD treatment not only needs a knowledgeable neurologist, but a psychiatrist and psychologist too. One thing I've learned the hard way is that you have to keep moving. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how depressed you feel. And she shouldn't be left alone whenever possible. My doctor recommends aqua therapy in a warm therapy pool. It has helped many people. Tell her to hang on. Somehow, in some way, help is coming.
Good Luck & God Bless you both
