... nerve pain worse
I'm so sorry! How discouraging. I deal with chronic pain too and it stinks! Your kind of pain is some of the worst too. I wouldnt wish pain on my worst enemy. I hope that you do find something that works in your quest for a less painful existence. Has your pain management Dr discussed any plans for further care?
I also did the ketamine infusion and it did not work for my RSD. I think the hardest part was the loss of hope. You hear stories of people that go through the infusions and are without pain and go off all medications. Hope is a wonderful precious thing and so devastating when lost. I have finally given into seeing a pain therapist after almost 7 years of dealing with the RSD and while she can't wave a magic wand and cure the pain it has helped to start the grieving process and redefine who I am. Pain changes every part of your life and if you start defining your life by who you are instead of what you can or can't do it is a huge step. As I'm sure you know because RSD affects the sympathetic nervous system it can physically alter your mind to being more depressed (also the crippling pain isn't exactly a pick me up). Good luck to you. Lets hope medical advances can catch up and find an actual cure for this awful disease.
