I experienced breathing difficulty 3-4 days into a ski trip on 2 separate occasions. Severe lung congestion, pneumonia type symptoms. Was prescribed singulair to take 1 week before trip and during trip. Has not reoccurred. Symptoms occurred twice in about 10 years. Ideas?? I do not have asthma or any known lung or heart issues
Hello Rick, Ask your Dr. for a script of Acetazolamide. It usually helps with AMS. Take it 1-2 days before your trip. Some people have also said that the herb Gingko Biloba has helped them deal with high altitudes. The best advice I would give you is to talk to your doctor and mention the medicine mentioned above. I hope this has helped. Have a fun safe trip!
