I have recently switched from Pristiq 50mg to Effexor XR 75mg, in an attempt to wean off the Pristiq and try something new. So far the only side effect I have experienced is clenching my jaw. Hopefully it will stay that way!

Maybe I spoke a little too soon. Feeling very depressed last night and this morning. I don't know if it's the med change or just that I'm really lonely. My husband is away for the week and I don't know anyone where we live now. Hard to know the cause. Would I be less depressed if not for the med change? Or is there something more going on? Either way I'm feeling very alone right now. :'(
Cathy, some enhancement of depression can be a side effect (when did you start your Effexor?) but that generally only lasts a few days to a week or so. You might have a double whammy going on with your situational sadness.
Try to hang in there and distract yourself so you don't dwell on it and fret and make it worse. Chances are you';; feel great very soon.
Meanwhile, always feel free to come here if you're feeling lonely. Weekends are a little slow but there are plenty of people here to lend support. WC
I started Effexor XR 75mg on Thursday. The purpose was to wean down from Pristiq 50mg, so I dont know if it has anything to do with maybe the 50mg not being an equivalent dose to the Effexor 75mg or what. Pristiq hasn't been working for me for a while, so I think the thought was to get me off it and try something else. I have a psychiatrist appointment on a Tuesday so maybe that will help. My regular doctor is he one that did the change. But yeah I've been very lonely too. I don't know. Could be a combination of all of it.:(
Thank you, but I'm. Actually. Not having the best results right now. I've been extremely depressed since last night.
I'm sorry to hear that... I spend a lot of time on my own too when my husband works away if it's any consolation I feel worse then... changing meds can be very difficult and I often need support at this time..on line friends can be understanding and let your psychiatrist know all your difficulties. Is your husband away long ?
Thank you for your understanding. He's away until Wednesday.
