I can not hear well from my right ear. I also feel a lot of pressure on the right side of my face. My job performace as a customer service lead is being affected, because I am relying on just one ear. I am worried about waiting that long.
That's not long to get into a specialist. I called a cardiologist the end of march and my appt isn't until the end of May. I know its frustrating not to hear out of both ears, I have a bad loss in my one ear. I make sure I'm looking straight at the person who is talking. I find that I am actually reading lips to help me,(that can drive you nuts when watching tv and the audio is out of sync with the video). When I use the phone I use speaker phone so that I can hear better.
I'm sorry you are going through this. I too have Cholesteatoma, I was diagnosed in 1998 when I was eight years old. I wont lie to you, you have a very valid reason to be scared especially if you google it. Getting into an ENT in two weeks is really good and about normal. I don't know if you've had any imaging, but that is pretty standard at the start. Your doctor will be able to see more and device a plan of treatment. I have had quite a few surgeries to remove Cholesteatoma myself and I understand even after a few surgeries and I know what to expect, I still get scared but everything will be okay. Fear is a normal reaction. I will keep you in my prayers. If you have questions or need any advice, I'm here.
