I have been on Ativan for about 18 mnths, following the tragic death of my 15 yr. old daughter. The new doc will be out of contact until Monday.
This question has also been asked and answered here: Ativan vs Xanax - What is the difference?
Xanax might help you more its longer acting, but that's a large dose of it. Does your doc have someone on call over the weekend? I'd try to call the office in the am and see if you get something to help, like an answering service that can reach a doc, or a message telling you what to do. If you have no ativan over the weekend you may have withdrawal. You could go to an urgent care center and explain and see if they'll prescribe enough for the weekend.
I am very sorry for your loss.
I do too take Ativan and was on Xanax before.
Do you go to the same pharmacy, and the Pharmacist knows you? (like a small town, or family type), if so explain the situation to him or her and appeal to his / her better judgement and just try to get enough Ativan until your new Dr. is available on Mon. morning, and can call them and explain the entire misunderstanding.
Hi grieving mom,
I am so very sorry for your loss. No mom should experience that.
I must disagree with my friend maso, I find xanax stronger than ativan, much stronger! (sorry maso) Try xanax and see if it works, or have you tried it already and found it to be lacking? You may just find it to be better than the ativan!
Best wishes to you, my heart just aches for you,
