Doctors guessing it was a seizure because of the symptoms. Now they think it was epeleptic caused by the stroke. No one can prove it. No one has given a neurologicale evaluation??? Should I go along with the neurologist and take the pil vimpat or seek other doctors.
It sounds like you want the neurological evaluation. Until you can get it, I would think in the meantime, that you would want to take the Vimpat to prevent having another seizure. If it doesn't matter to you, then wait to get another opinion. But this time, make sure that you will get the evaluation at the time that you are making the appt. or see if the neurologist that you already saw is willing to give you an evaluation. Good luck.
You can always get a second opinion. Its not unusual for someone to seizure after a stroke, and you are seeing a neurologist. He's giving you that diagnosis because in the absence of something on xray its the logical choice, but if you feel he's wrong, there is nothing preventing you from seeing another dr. Next time you have a seizure whomever is with you should send you straight to the hospital so it can be evaluated at that time, too.
My husband had his first seizure 7 months after his stroke, rang for ambulance was assessed ,this some times happens after a stroke, get another opinion if your not happy, also get a Epilipsy nurse they are great, and keep a diary , it will help the nurse when she assesses you.
