Perhaps the drug needs more time to kick in. However, that would be contrary to my experience with every other helpful anti-depressant I have taken the last 18 years. With those drugs (trycyclics, cymbata, zoloft, etc), the impact was almost immediate. Just one dose would make me feel substantially better. So far, with viibryd I feel substantially worse since I went off zoloft and began taking viibryd. Zoloft worked reasonably well for me, but my doctor recommended viibryd because it apparently does more than a typical SSRI, which inhibit the re-uptake of serotonin. Viibrd does the same, but supposely it can also increase the amount of sertonin the brain/neurons produce. I am extremely disappointed with viibryd. Any suggestions?
Hello zepick61. Some time ago I was once on zoloft. No longer on it because then, it seems as in my case, it did little in regards to help me with my anxiety. I currently as part of my medications take paroxetine (Paxil). You can feel it working fairly quickly, and if you miss a dose, your body certainly lets you know. Aside from weight gain, it works fairly well to help reduce my anxiety levels. In my case, I really finf it a very ... not easy medication , but say, my body tolerates it well. I know that this might not be what you are looking for, because it works almost identically the way prozac and zoloft work, on the serotonin system. Or your doctor might prescribe you say zoloft in combination with the antidepressant wellbutrin. That combination is often used when zoloft alone is not doing the job. and with fairly good success. The combination of the two.
You might try effexor. I was on it, but with fairly poor results, as well as side-effects. There are those who speak highly of it. I'm not certain to every or some of the anti-depressants you've tried, and how long you've been on viibrd. Hopefully, you'll get more feeback and some fresh ideas. best to you.
Don't know how long you have been on the Viibryd, but it can take an antidepressant as much as a month to reach maximum effectiveness. Think you may have to give it time before you consider upping the dosage.
I've been on 40 mgs of Viibryd since February 3, 2012. Four plus weeks. It seems to be working pretty well. However, It also seems that it could work slightly better. I think our thought processes may add to our uncertainties about these medications. We, myself included, don't always realize that our negative thinking make it much more difficult for these medications to work.
Having said all that, I think my Viibryd is almost at 100 % effectiveness. I have lost 19 pounds from the day I started with 10 mgs by simply watching what I eat. I will give the 40 mgs another couple of weeks before I give it my final evaluation. It's benefits, both sexual and weight, are definitely there.
I take 20 mg of Viibryd because it was making me too jittery at 40 and I'm staying there for now. I also take another med as well for anxiety to complement it.Maybe that's something you should talk to the doctor about.I hope it works out for you.Good Luck,M
I spoke with my doctor, it depends on the person. I have been on it for a month and seen little significance. I noticed I eat more and gained weight. He wants to try it one more month.
Hello zepick61 and all
I have been taking Wellbutrin Xl and lexapro for over 5 yrs. when lexapro went generic I had to switch to viibryd due to cost . I have taken the viibryd for pretty close to 45 days. I am not feeling the same or better with this SSRI . I have a friend who sees a top notch doc who has prescribed him a combo of viibyrd and another medication. He was taking 60 milligrams of viibyrd. I was wondering of anyone else is having the same negative results and or if anyone is taking more than 40 milligrams of viibyrd. I feel so anxious, depressed, and crying a lot . Any feedback would b greatly appreciated . Laura
