I finally went to a Psychiatrist who did blood work to check DHEA level and it came back super low. He states this could cause extreme exhaustion, depression and such. It gave me some hope, but I wonder if anyone has had experience with the supplement 7-keto DHEA. If this isn't the problem, I'm afraid they are missing a medical issue. I'm scared, I don't feel right at all.
I have not studied the use of DHEA, but I found that the Mayo Clinic has a good website on DHEA. Check this out:
I would be cautious. If you try the supplement make sure you follow the doctor's instructions carefully.
A little further reading which may or may not be helpful, is about adrenal insufficiency which is why your DHEA levels would be so low. To learn about this go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrenal_insufficiency
I hope this helps some,
My endocrinologist put me on DHEA in order to help me whinne off of the steroids I have been on for my arthritis. He says that it should help my body try to start creating this again naturally. Also taking Vit D & B12, Shows I have extremely low in these areas, I think they're pretty safe. They are OTC. But you should do a little research to see what the side effects of not having this in your system could mean. ( www.holisticonline.com/herb_home.htm) this is a pretty good site to start. I have to say I don't notice a big difference but I do feel better and have actually lost some weight. Good Luck!
