The red blood cell distribution width, RDW, or RCDW is a measure of the variation of red blood cell (RBC) width that is reported as part of a standard complete blood count.
Normal RDW values are between 11 and 14 %, with an optimum RDW value range of 13 %. When RDW values rise above normal levels, several disorders become suspect.
