After a couple of days use of Rapaflo, I now have aching calf muscles when I get up to walk. Stretching and walking helps a little, but the ache is continuous when I try to use my calf muscles in both legs. Is this a problem with rapaflo directly or indirectly? I am also taking pantoprazole for gurd.
Often leg cramps are because you are deficient in calcium. Call the doc and see if your blood work ups have checked for this. Let the doc know about the cramps. Keep walking. Tight muscles will relax. Walk it off, as they used to say in gym class. lol. Lots of meds cause this. Inactivity makes it worse.
You do not have the usual side effect of your med, but do you take anything else? You need to check in with your doctor in case you could have a blood flow problem or even a clot in your calfs. I am giving you a link on the side effects of the med you listed... Mary
First off, i took rapaflo for about 8 months. I've had Crohn's disease for 39 years, and as of 2001, do not have a colon or rectum .Now i have been dealing with kidney disease which we are trying to determine if it is my prostrate which was damaged in surgery ,is what is causing the kidney problem? I have severe leg cramps at night sometimes.and during the last 8 months ,it does seem like i have had more than usual. I have to get iv fluids about every three months, and drink Pedialyte all the time to keep hydrated. but PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS! I WAS ON PROTONIX ( Pantoprozole) FOR 10 YEARS. I have been reading about very serious side effects about it, and stopped taking the Protonix about 5 months ago. I have improved in so many ways, muscle weakness is less, my diarrhea has slowed, i am not nearly so lethargic, and many more things.
please look up side effects of the Pantoprazole (Protonix) you will be amazed at the side effects they are warning about . I do agree with the answer about your calcium and potassium levels concerning the leg cramp, get them checked. Or try drinking some Pedialyte when you get a cramp. I keep a couple of bottles on hand just for leg cramps, and it works within minutes. Sweet relief! Good luck to you, leumas58
