Can I just quit taking plaquenil? On for many years, diag with mac. degeneration. I want off now?

Yes. My doctor took me completely off without tapering when I was diagnosed with central vision loss. I think macular degeneration is different but regardless, I didn't have to taper off Plaquenil like I would with a steroid. I'd been taking the highest dose permitted by the FDA for at least 3 years. As it turns out, a year after I discontinued the Plaquenil, my opthamologist says that my vision loss reversed itself. He says I was fortunate to catch it early enough. Best of luck!

I do not know what Plaquenil is; I read the information on the medication but I am not the wiser. If you are
seeing better, I'd stop taking it... it sounds that you are seeing better no?
