Poison ivy itchiness

Drying agents such as calamine lotion may help relieve the itchiness caused by poison ivy or rashes. Your doctor may prescribe strong steroids for extra relief.

I am normally not a big fan of steroids but bad poison ivy is one instance where they are indicated. Ask your doc for a Medrol pack. It will get rid of the inflammation and itching very quickly! In the meantime calamine lotions and oatmeal baths like Aveeno can help the itching. Try taking some benedryl too.

I hope you are over your poison ivy at this time. For future, I got an injection of prednisone and put on a 10 day prescription of it. I use hydrocortisone at night on the rash to help it go away and benedryl cream a couple times during the day to help with the itching. Doctor told me to also make a baking soda paste to put on for itching but haven't done that yet because the above is doing the job for me.
