I started my 25mg seroquel at bedtime for the first time tonight. My doc prescribed it to help with my poor sleep habits and anxiety. I fell asleep fast but woke up after 2 hours. I've been wide awake since. Am I to assume this is because it's the first night or what?

The dose you are on is low, therefore I believe you should speak to your Dr. in order to increase it to 50 mg. in a couple of days.First get used to this very potent antipsychotic and then as I have said adjust the dose which for off label use for sleeping disorders is 50mg.
I also take it, I am bipolar and suffer from insomnia, but I take 400mgs. and have been on it for more than 10 years.
Just be patient, this is a very good medication, do not forget we react to meds differently, it may take a bit of time before you obtain the much needed sleep.
Regards, masso.-
