Asking a personal question for personal opinions/view points. How many patients should a Doctor have and should there be a limit?? I have found on numerous occasions where a doctor, mine and Others have scheduled several and sometimes more appointments at the exact same time. How is it that a doctor has time to see each patient thoroughly, efficiently n effectively if he/she is having to Rush to see all his or her patients? Plus you have to wait if you come in early or on time and if you're 15 mins late, you usually have to be rescheduled. And of course your time with the doctor is with most appointments brief. I don't understand how a doctor can do this as a doctor to begin with, with both himself/herself and with the patient/s. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this and explain on behalf of Our doctors plus your own feelings/view points & opinions???
A question or questions about Doctors?

I agree this isn't the healthcare of the old days when we paid $10 and got as long as it took with the dr. Drs are doing this because of insurances. The physicians assistants and nurses do a lot of what a dr used to do and they are quite capable of doing that. Where I go now I must say my dr does spend time with you. The whole office has an unhurried atmosphere. I find it a pleasure to deal with them.
Good thing too, she's the only doc in town, lol.
When you are with the dr you should ask any questions you have, even if he's headed for the door. We have to be a little assertive.
there are quite a few changes in healthcare that i have a problem with. That doesn't mean that I think it will ever change. The government has way too much say in healthcare to make me happy.
Hi, i agree. It is difficult because (especially where i live, in the UK) there are such densely populated towns now and even though some practices have several doctors there is still a short fall in doctor/patient equivalency/availability. I often have to wait about half an hour after my appointment time to be seen. Although my doctor is very caring and sympathetic, i still feel an urgency to get my needs met so not to take up too much time, and this usually results in me forgetting to mention something. It is a problem, but i don't know how it can be resolved in a society that's healthcare service is already so stretched...
I know exactly what you're talking about. I had the same problems until I finally said enough is enough and wrote down those doctors that I did need, and those I could let go. Many doctors are multi discipline and can help with other problems than their title states. I now have a Spinal Surgeon, a Pain Management Team, a Gynecologist and an Internal Medicine Doctor, so I feel all my basis are covered. I found when you spend more of your time running to and from doctors, you're not only spending more money than necessary, but you're spending your time, often over an hour waiting to see said doctors!
The system now isn't like it used to be, as others have said, I have been known to stand in front of the door, so he/she can't get out until all my questions and concerns are dealt with! You waited the time, you deserve their respect and time as well!
(Personal Physician) The Only doctor I've had since my late twenties. Missed seeing him in the past number of years,no transportation. And before hand,he didn't seem to be that "into" or interested in taking care of Us and mainly me. Now he doesn't want to be my doctor. I'm obviously the worst of patients n a horrible individual period n with have no true concern or care for my physician/doctor. His condition physically & mentally,is completely irrelevant to me. "I'm being sarcastic" Shame on me expecting him to be my doctor. I do not like his crude, invasive, selfish, dominate, smartass know-it-all Nurse, Jennifer... inconsiderate n rude. Maybe I'm not being nice n maybe I'm wrong for saying this, but I think/believe U don't treat patients, customers, clients, students, insurers, individuals with No Concern are or Respect especially when they are paying your salary.
If the hours are to long and or you don't need the money quick. No one is responsible to do your job but you, whatever your hours may be. Complain when you get home! Who you're attending to or taking care of should see only a smile on your face n kind words from your mouth. Real complains should be given to higher authority, management, or your boss. No one individual should have to pay for your unhappiness/likes or dislikes. Smile n bare it ... :) Just recently l have gotten transportation,it belongs to my daughter, but here for my use n my other daughter, that's staying home with me for now. My doctor hasn't said anything else lately about me finding a new doctor, but I still feel he wants me to. I don't understand it
... It's been devastating for me. My heart was broken... It seems I'm not feeling anything now. There were times I wanted to leave snd find another doctor, but I hung in there hoping for the best. Then he wants or wanted to get rid of me. My family has wanted me to go to someone else for many years. Because they felt he wasn't doing all that he should n could do for me n to prevent a lot of medical/physical issues that has come about. I didn't give up on him! And shocked that he could easily do that to me. I truly thought that him knowing me so well made it easier/better for him and myself with my medical care. Now it seems like he doesn't know me at all are or he simply doesn't care. He has changed through the years... he appears less interested in the patient one on one n more occupied with his number of patients n getting the job done. I told him about a medicine I was taking n it wasn't the amount he had on his chart/records n he was upset about it more so because he said he would have to change so much of his paper work n have to redo all of it over. And express how upset he was in doing so. So after that on another visit I told him never mind, leave it as is. For when I went back to get prescriptions filled nothing had been changed. Because of a mess up with information n because it wasn't changed/cleared up when it happened... I suppose I was held completely responsible. I am guilty of the delay, but not the one that made the mistake. However ... It was wrong n I was hoping it could be taken care of. The medicine I'm talking about was n is my thyroid meds. Stupid me thought for a long time ... "well I had extra... and didn't have ti worry about running out or making arrangements to pick it up from the drug store/pharmacy". I know better now... Wasn't thinking at the time how complicating it would become. :(
