I went to a walk in clinic asking for for Ativan - as this is all I know from my mom taking this. Dr. shook his head No and started writing out prescription for 10mg for 7 days then 20mg (Citalopram). I have been experiencing self doubt (I am a performer) with a vicious circle of voices and panic. I am about to embark on a beautiful massive project in a month from now. I have completed my 1 week 10mg step and am on day 2 of 20mg. These last couple of days, I feel worse and have dry mouth. Am trying to meditate and breathe deeply, but that hasn't helped. Will this feeling go away soon ?

Ralph; Yes and you're just about at the time except you had to just increase the dose so it could be another week to 10 days and these side effect get much much better. in the mean time you might try and suck on a lifesaver or at the pharmacy if the mouth is real dry they have a product called Biotene I believe it comes in liquid spray and gum and it is a saliva substitute and works pretty good for those of us on these type of medication but it should work well. Normally it's 2 weeks from the time the dose change or shorter that this medication does increase the symptoms you're trying to get under control so this is all normal you should be good real soon. hang in there and remember to take this about the same time each day and don't miss any days. Hi Ralph, I wanted to get in touch after you left a comment on one of my posts.
I promise you it will get better with time I know that's not what you want to hear as you just want to feel "normal" again ASAP it will come but don't rush it. Iv been on two courses of the drug and all side effects will die away after 4 to 6 weeks. I seen you have a project coming up one thing I would say is try not to over think being better for it take each day as it comes. Working in the Arts / Music sector I know how demanding the industry just try not to over think it. Your over a week in now only 3 more to go stay stron!

Thanks so much Chuck. I swear, since I've been to this site, I physically feel a tad better and mentally a whole lot better. Much appreciated !
Thanks, Ralph; I do know what you mean I have been on lots of sites on the web, And settled here. For the most part, you have many people that offer their advice and of course, some are better than others you get to where you know who you can rely on and who to kind of pass over. Such as the very negative people that is the last thing anyone needs when they come for advice. Also some times you may get just one or two answers or more. And most of us that know anything can tell who really knows what they are talking about or not. But really the bottom line is every medication does have a support group. But when it comes to answers about something you much better putting it down here. Well, I am very Happy that it does you some good that is the goal. We all have our problems and many people think they are all alone as you can see far from it. And it helps to know there are others that are or have been there.

By the way of all the Medications like the one your take, one other good thing about it is that it is one of the few that reaches it's peak blood level faster than any of the others in that group which is 4 weeks you should be feeling better. And almost every other one in that family of drugs it takes 6 to 8 weeks to reach the peak blood level. Of course, we are all different and they work a bit different but this is good to know. Have a great day and hope you get to feeling better very soon. Chuck1957
