I have severe anxiety and I cant sleep I am 33yr old female that weights 113lbs. I have an intense stressful life and I go to the Dr. and she gives me Lexepro. I am not depressed... I need sleep and something to help w/ my anxiety. The way I hear it is Lexepro causes insomnia and lack of sex drive which will only cause issues w/ my marriage... so why is this drug so good?
Hi lexapro is also used to treat anxiety so i can understand why it has been prescribed. Regarding the insomnia, it has been recorded as a side effect, but the medication can also cause drowsiness so is sometimes used for this effect. Issues with sex drive have also been noted but it doesn't mean that you will experience them. Sometimes people experience little or no side effects so it is worth a try. If you are unhappy with this treatment though tell your doctor, it is important you feel comfortable with your prescription.
Hello rg16mg27. I was on lexapro for some years. Its an anti-anxiety medication and it also was developed to figh the daily battle of depression. Its a two in one, type of a thing. The medication, in my case seemed to help in regards to my anxiety. Its not in the benzodiazepine family, you know, the valiums, xanax, ativan, librium, klonopin and so on. I was on other medications at the time, one was lexapro, which helped me to sleep. For I suffer from insomnia, and suffer is the word! ( my humor at work). I would give the drug, lexapro, a try, its not a heavy duty sedation, and again, if you do not like the side eefects, you can always have your dr. prescribe you another medication. Today, more than ever, we the users and the drs. have such a vast, choice of different medications, much more than say thirty years ago to say the least. I really hope that you begin to feel better, its the pits having the anxiety run your life. best of wishes rg16mg27.
