Psychiatrist prescribe lithium to me when I am highly allergic to salt? He spent a total of 6 minutes talking to me before forcing me to take the lithium. I was committed to a mental hospital without even knowing where I was going.
There are many kinds of 'salts'. Table salt is usually sodium chloride which is in just about everything we eat unless prepared only fresh without salt such as kosher foods. Our blood naturally has sodium and chloride in it. The salt that is part of the lithium molecule is not sodium chloride.
Involuntary commitment is very scary. It is traumatic enough to suffer from a mental illness. I encourage you to work with the doctors though and find what stabilizes your moods.
