The question about med lists on the phone made me think of this. Do you know that there are programs to keep blood pressure diaries, that enable you to send a report to your dr by email. The one I use is iBP and it only cost 0.99. Its really great with graphs and averages. That's on android but they probably have an iphone one too. There are also apps to enter all your medical info. that can be used in an emergency or just when you need to know. There are several of these, most have a free version. Check out your app stores, there is allot more then just games.
I had not heard of this app and I think it's great! It will be even better if we can also safely gain access to our medical records. I hope you're doing well!! With my significant weight loss I am hopeful my GP will allow me to discontinue my BP meds. Thanks for passing this on to us...
I think these depend upon the doctor. I use a secure site generated from the clinic. They do not accept email as anyone can get into these. My doctor also said that unsecured transference of medical records violates the HIPPA laws. Which I agree with. I used to teach clinics the HIPPA laws when they first became effective. User beware.
I am certain hospitals do not accept them because of the whole confidentiality problem. Any app can be easily hacked into. If on your phone and phone is lost, there goes your privacy. ESP. For users of pain killers since that record could get them prescriptions filled with a bit of talking.
The idea does sound good. I just think the approach is better with the secure sites. Again, buyer beware.
As a matter of fact; I have. The last time I went to the Neurologist; which was in April. The my doctor went over the new system with me; I want to say briefly but it was a little more extensive than that. He told me that by my next visit; the system would be working in full force. I also received a letter from his office stating that visits and waiting times would now be longer; so, that the staff could get use to using the new system. He also said; I would be receiving a packet explaining the system in detail and also inform me how to get properly signed up for the system; so that my status would be in working order before my next visit. So,that they can introduce the system to me and I could get familiar with the system and ask questions about how to use it, if I don't understand something; on that first initial visit while introducing the new system. I haven't received any documents of any sort regarding that information. I suppose it will be useful to us as patients.
I guess at this point; I am undecided; since, I haven't seen the end result yet. The negative thing about all this, is the extra time that we will have to waste waiting in the doctor's office. This system will not benefit the elderly; well most of them anyway. I mentioned this system to my mom, who is 78; (she is extremely active and goes everywhere you could imagine! you wouldn't think she was 78 turning 79 this year) She was not to thrilled about this new system at all. Apparently, she had already heard about it through one of her doctors. She is not happy at all, to say the least!! She thinks that anyone that has access to the internet will also have access to her and my father's medical and financial records from each doctor they go to. I explained to her that was not the case and that was not the way or what the system was designed to provide; but, she still stuck with her belief!! So, I just left it at that. She is to funny! People from that era; well most people, don't understand all of this new technology. This is off the subject; but it's funny, my mom had me go and get her recently a brand new really nice laptop. She loves Facebook (she can't work it/but she loves it) I decided to get one as well; mine is a whole lot better than hers; but I use mine, alot!! They both have windows 8. So, I thought being that I had to learn that operating system; we could do it together! Well, mom said she had no use for anything but Facebook! Just show me how to get there!!! That is what she kept saying and disregarding any information other than FACEBOOK!! So, I pinned it to her win. 8 screen, put an icon to her desktop screen. That still wasn't good enough... she still kept getting lost on the internet or some place else. I would have to drop what I was doing and run over there and show her how to get back on Facebook. Until, eventually; I had to make Facebook her default browser page!! How funny is that!!! But, anyway back to the situation at hand; I just thought I would share that little bit of info. with you!! Hope you enjoyed it!!! But, my neurologist said the system would be complete and up and running on my next appt. which is in 2 mths. However, in the next couple of weeks; I am going to another doctor at the same facility. So, I am assuming the new system should be in its place and running properly by now. I will be more than happy to write back to you and let you know how my experience went with the new system in place and my feedback. With that being said, has your doctor mention any of this to you?
If so, could you write back with the pros and cons that concerns you. Also, what mg patch are you on? I am on 50mg. Regarding my posted question, Have you ever tried the PAR name brand patches. They really don't work well for the pain and they are coming off by the second day. Have you ever tried or ever heard of the name brand of the patches I was speaking of in my post? They are quite large, no gel, bulky, they come in a big white box with a dark green stripe on them; and on the patch itself, the clear paper you tear off; has green writing all over the clear plastic paper you tear off. It lofriend oks like it maybe the brands logo imprinted all over it. But, when you peel it off all you see is the patch. And last, what brand you find works the best for pain? Well, I hope I answered your questions... I am going to go to your profile and request you; so that when I go to the doctor; I can give you my analysis on the new system.
I didnt relize we were friends already; I am so sorry!! I am very new to this forum. How do you maintain your status like beginner, junior? Also, how would I send you a message personally? I would aprreciate the help and feedback!!
