I had a tumor inside of my spinal cord, which has left me with permeant damage, and chronic pain in my face and neck. I have been on Oxycodone for years to control the pain, but I don't want to take it anymore. I know I will hurt, but I hate taking this stuff. I take 60 mg a day (10mg every 4 hours) I have never taken more than prescribed, nor abused it in any way (i.e. doctor shop) I just want to be normal again. So, starting today, I am taking less and less, until I don't need it ever again. Is this a good idea? And will smoking Marijuana help with the wd? I also have a bunch of 5mg Valium, which I hardly take, maybe once or twice a week, to help me stay asleep. Because I wake up from pain. Thank you for your time.
I personally commend you on wanting to stop. There should be other non narcotic medications your Dr should be able to help with the pain. (Don't know if anything will help like the oxy but something should atleast help some). The Valium should help with the withdrawal some. Tell your Dr what your wanting to do and see if he could increase your Valium temporarily for you. There are also drugs to help you not have any withdrawals at all. As far as the marijuana helping I don't know. Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck :)
Hi. Be sure you taper gradual over a long time or you will have withdrawal. Have your doc chart you out so you can get off this. But there are other things out there and I hope you can find something that works better for you. Surely the doc has suggested alternatives over time?
Valium is also addictive. So be careful as you have been. There are better drugs for this as well
Your neurologist will be your best bet. A lot has changed since your surgery, I think. Somebody needs to rethink this with you. Suffering with pain is not your only option to get away from that drug. Wishing you wellness and feeling better.
As far as the bud goes it is the ONLY thing besides more opiates that truly helps me. It's like you almost forget your sick(withdrawal,& I only say that because some people don't know some of the terminology,if you do please don't take it as I'm concidering you stupid) but some benzo's will also help while your weaning,I think Valume works the best but any will help. I know you know you've got a long road ahead but you sound determined & have a lot of courage(more then me cuz I don't particularly like being a slave to dilaudid but don't want to hurt) & I really hope you kick & find out maybe the pain isn't as bad & the only way to do that is to be off the opiates for a month or so because at first all your pain, stuff not even included with why your on them is going to be worse because your body hasn't been releasing it's own pain killers. But yeah, some good Drow will help very much. Good luck. P.S you know after you stop maybe an N.A meeting might help, not my thing but it helps a lot of peeps.
