My 87 year old mom contracted shingles approximately 5 years ago and now suffers with extreme phnp in her forehead right above her eye on the left side. We have tried everything (i.e. lyrica, lidocaine patches, tea tree oil, etc etc). Nothing has worked for very long. My usually stoic mom is reduced to tears and forced to curtail outdoor activities if the weather is hot windy or cold. She has been to doctors but no one has been able to help or even knew enough about phnp to try. I know she is at her wits end and i am very concerned for her. She does not tolerate pain meds. Is there anyone out there who has had any success with pain relief? Please help my mom!!!
Definitely try cbd or medical Marijuana, especially if you live in Colorado. I live in a state that medical Marijuana is legal, and I recently have been able to use both the cbd which does not make you high, or the Marijuana too. The cbd comes in different forms, but I use a vape pen. It has helped my pain quite a bit. I also use a topical butter Marijuana in it for my face, which has also helped.
I wish your Mom the best. We all know what she is going through.
Let me know if you have anything that works. My Mom has PHNP for the last year too. Mom has tried just about everything, but nothing has helped. She’s on gabapentin, the drug they give everyone now, but mostly she has to sit around with nothing touching the nerve pain area. She can’t even leave the house half the time! What is wrong with our medical community, allowing our seniors to sit around in intense pain. Disgusting frankly.
