When I try to go to sleep I start feeling like I can't get enough oxygen. Doctors told me it was just my anxiety and upped my dose of Effexor. Its only gotten worse. My throat and chest feel tight and I have a constant urge to swallow or cough. When/if I doze of I jolt up in bed gasping for air. Please help me, I'm losing a lot of sleep and its really freaking me out, bad. Thank you!!
Is it very hot and humid where you live? I often feel like I'm suffocating or can't get enough air when it is humid and the temperature is high. This aggravates my anxiety a great deal.
One night a few years ago, the heat was so oppressive that I had to get out of bed and gasp for air. This was with the air conditioning on! What you're experiencing may be a reaction to the heat and humidity, or it could be allergies. -
