Pill imprint A 5 has been identified as Alendronate sodium 5 mg.

Alendronate is used in the treatment of osteoporosis; prevention of osteoporosis; paget's disease; aseptic necrosis and belongs to the drug class bisphosphonates. Risk cannot be ruled out during pregnancy. Alendronate 5 mg is not subject to the Controlled Substances Act.
