Sodium bicarbonate is used in the treatment of hyperkalemia; urinary alkalinization; indigestion; diabetic ketoacidosis; metabolic acidosis (and more), and belongs to the drug classes antacids, minerals and electrolytes, urinary pH modifiers. Risk cannot be ruled out during pregnancy.
Sodium bicarbonate 10 grain (650 mg) is not subject to the Controlled Substances Act.
