My husband is in the military and will be returning on Friday but I started taking the pill on Monday, I know we will end up having sex and it is easier if he doesn't have to pull out. Could we have unprotected sex the day before my 7th day?
Sure you can have sex, but you need to use a condom if you dont want to chance pregnancy! Withdrawing the penis prior to ejaculation WILL NOT protect you from getting pregnant! Men secrete sperm long before they ejaculate. Pulling out is a wasted gesture and wont protect you. Any penetration without a condom can put you at risk for pregnancy. I personally know a few women who got pregnant when their partners penetrated a couple of strokes, with no ejaculation, before they used a condom and they ended up pregnant. Your partner doesnt have to ejaculate to expose you to sperm. Granted, the majority are released during ejaculation but it only takes one sperm to get you pregnant. You will not be fully protected by your oral contraceptive until you have taken at least seven days of active pills. If you dont want to risk pregnancy then your safest bet is to use a condom until you are fully protected by your birth control pills. Once you are past that seven day mark you can have sex without back up protection.
