I am quadriplegic and want to take aspirin as preventative and in case of emergency heart pain. I was told many years ago when I was first injured not to take aspirin but not told why or don't remember. I am also 90% deaf. Is there a problem in my taking aspirin?
YES, you should take 81 mg. aspirin for prophylactically (preventatively) for your heart. This is the daily "baby dosage" doctors are recommending. You should have no side effects at this low dosage.
If you have heart pains, the dosage should be 300 mg. at first sign, then call 911, however, I would ask my doctor if this would be too much for your body weight if you have wasting syndrome.
All the very best to you,
