In researching this new "wonder pill", and according to my physician who claims to have prescribed each component to MANY people, why would I want to jump through hoops and pay big bucks for something that could be prescribed individually and generically at a much lower cost? Have I missed something?
Why would someone take Tylenol PM when they could take store brand generic acetaminophen and store brand generic diphenhydramine for much less cost? Ignorance, as in lack of knowledge, mainly. People hear the brand name and they dont know any better that it is available in two separate generic drugs. Then if they were on Qsymia and switched to the two generics in the same strength they would swear it doesnt work the same-you tell me?
How a medicine works and its side effects, whether generic or name brand, is solely dependent on the chemistry of the individual taking the medicine. What works well for one person might have unbearable side effects on another. That is the reason for the drug trials and many years it takes for new drugs, specifically weight loss drugs, to be approved by the FDA. You and your doctor should determine what works for your chemistry and your budget.
