Can't honestly answer anything about Canada, but the requirement was a preexisting condition. Diabetes, high blood pressure or something else. Mine was obesity related high blood pressure. So my doctor basically told me that if I didn't want to be on multiple meds for diseases by the time I was 30 I needed to lose some weight whatever the way I wanted to go about it. Gastric bypass, drugs, whatever. So I started taking Qsymia. 70lbs later, I'm a size 10 with a 29 inch waist and I've never been happier. :) Good luck though. Hope your GP will give it to you.
