What can I take in place of Lyrica because of the cost?
Neurontin (gabapentin) is the same type of drug as Lyrica. It is available as a generic which is a lot cheaper.
Gabapentin is available as a generic. There will likely still be a decent cost involved due to potentially higher doses. For example, I was on 2400 mg of gabapentin per day, which came to about $60/mo. That’s still far less expensive than Lyrica though, which I take now that it’s been approved through insurance, but if I had to pay out of pocket again I’d resort to gabapentin. Lyrica is expensive!
