Have had PA for 11 years and generally well managed thru anti-inflams and... metheltrexate. Did have a heart attack 2 1/2 years ago and a stent. This fall / winter / spring have had on-going sinus infections / colds with only about 10 weeks well of 7 months. Ugh! Anyone else had this experience unable to clear sinus infections despite 4 bouts anti-biotics. My cold symptoms are heavy sinus discharge in nose, sore throat, coughing, head ache occasionally, squeeky voice, fatigue.
I have had a bad winter with sinus infections as well, and so far its not any better. My primary care has been switching my allergy and antibiotics meds around. I am also allergic to pennicillin and sulfa drugs and have a really hard time. Have you discussed a methotrexate break with your doctors? Don't do this without your dr approval, but it might make a difference. Good luck!
I haven't quite had that experience, but I *have* had a steady stream of sinus headaches and congestion of late (XS OTC sinus caps are my constant companion). I had written it off to the high humidity, but given this situation, I think I'll be bringing it to my Primary's attention if it continues much longer. I'm not on Metheltrexate (yet), but I am on NSAIDs and lots of corticosteroids for my skin issues. Best of luck to you - I hope you find a solution soon!
