My doctor put me on Viibryd and into the third week I was CRAVING sweets like never before while making me incredibly tired. I tried Wellbutrin before and it seemed to work fairly well and I am really curious about adding cymbalta. I have read such positive reviews on here about that combo and am so desperate to feel alive again. All I want to do is hide from people and crowds, my memorie is horrible, I am distracted so easily and cannot focus at all unless there is total silence and have no motivation to do anything. I love that I can tell this to you all and get some support because I need it so desperately :(
Both Prozac and Zoloft didn't agree with me although my doc said I didn't give them a chance. I have been on Effexor XR 75mg for 3 months now and I am beginning to feel that I may need a higher dosage... thing about Effexor is it's so darned expensive($140 a month)while the Prozac and Zoloft were only $9.99 . I have gotten some help with the costs however but it is only for a year and then I am back on my own with it again.
While you can't take Viibryd along with Cymbalta you can take Wellbutrin (bupropion) along with either one. I have found Wellbutrin to be a great adjunct to my other antidepressant which use to be Cymbalta and is now Pristiq. The Wellbutrin helps me focus and concentrate. Have you spoken to your doctor about whether you may have ADD aside from depression? Just wondering since you mention not being able to focus unless in total silence.
Nice to mert you. LaurieShay (hi friend:) is way ahead of me as usual, but I will reiterate. For years I took Wellbutrin along with Straterra for ADD, diagnosed in my 30's. it was an amazing combination, changed only recently because my Dr put me on Viibryd. At the same time he increased my Straterra and I feel really great. Sorry the Viibryd didn't work for you but certainly ask your Doc about possible ADD symptoms. I learned that it is very often missed when an adult patient is medicated for depression. I too had difficulty concentrating, (actually wore ear plugs all the time :) lost things constantly. Hang in there Holldoll, for a med adjustment. I wish you well and hope you can find a good combination. Please keep us posted.
I'm just wondering IF your inability remember or concentrate is not ADD at all, but just part of your depression?
I went thru a clinical depression once and I couldn't remember a thing, my hubby would answer a question of mine three times and I still couldn't recall what he said. (I eventually stopped asking questions :) I also couldn't concentrate, couldn't even read a magazine, let alone a book. It was that bad.
Depression can sometimes mask itself as ADD and vice versa. This is just my two cents, I wouldn't disagree with either LaurieShay, as she really knows her stuff, as does our sweet Frenchie! So, just my opinion.
I wish you the best, shrinks seem to toss meds at us and see what sticks!
