I took prozac for a month. It seemed as if it was starting to work. I wasnt having any anxiety attacks. However I stopped taking it just after a month. With my insurance co-pay going up, I couldnt see the therapist as much as she wanted me to. I told the Doc who prescribes the meds that it made me tired an hour after I took it everyday. He commented by saying that out of the 26,000 patients that he has had over the years, only a handful have ( claimed ) that it made them tired too ! He basically told me i was full of it and that it wasnt really the meds that made me tired. Can anyone else tell me im full of it ? Also with me taking it only a month and stopping abruptly, is it possible that the lack of taking it make me feel as if i was going thru withdrawal ? Does anyone think i should continue taking it ?
This is probably gonna be a case of whether you think the sleepiness outweighs the anxiety attacks. You could try taking it at night if you are not already doing that. It is generic so it is offered cheap, but, the therapy sessions will help, so, don't skip those all together. This is actually the type of question my therapist likes to answer and put things in perspective for me. As for withdrawal, I don't think you are going to have any after just a month, but, it depends on how high a dose you were on and if you were on another antidepressant before the Prozac. If you weren't, then probably not.You know that some of the meds take from 4 to 6 weeks to fully get in your system.
hi rawboots, gotta b a good reason u picked that for a screen name, maybe after a bit.i agree with u 100% when i was first put on elivil doc told me its not addictive, that lieing bi©Th.i took them for a month n when i ran out of them i was all shacky n i couldn't for sleep for 2 weeks more than a few hours. i never took prozac but i think all that anti depressent stuff is all made from the same 55 gallon drum. just under different names. patti was right take it before bedtime, that's what i do.and elivil is not for sleep, yea right!.
