My 16 year old son weighs 250 lbs and is 6 '4 and has been diagnosed with mild depression is taking 20 mg now and has been for almost a year but still sleeps alot and complains about no motivation. He noticed an improvement but still has bouts of depression but no motivation.
He might need something other then prozac. Lack of motivation is a big sign of depression. He might need a kick in the butt to get going but first he needs his depression treated.
Depends on the prescribing physician, these types of meds are very individualized and prescribed with specifics in mind. Also, not sure if meds are a cure for motivation, that comes from within, meds may "help" motivation, but they will not manufacture it.
Counselling could be very helpful, has he received any such support to date? Maybe a different antidepressant would be more helpful, or a dose increase of the Prozac? Another option could be to add another medication to the Prozac... I think he should make an appt with his GP
