I'm using it for my social anxiety and mild depression. I feel less motivated and lethargic. I do try to work out at least 30 min everyday but still not really seeing a change.
This is very common. If you can hang with it, that side effect will go away shortly.
I have been on Prozac for 3 years or so. When I first started it took a coupl4e of weeks for me to notice help and you may have worse anxiety because of your expectations of the new medication!
Give it 2-3 weeks, this is a normal first impression.
I usually dont reply but I am in a similar situation myself. I am on day 4 and I do not think I can handle another day of this, certainly not weeks. Ive gone through a few other anti depressants without any side effects but could not continue taking them due to finances. I was prescribed prozac 20mg $4 a month. 4 days of fighting back tears, depression unlike anything experienced before, extreme irritability, ANXIETY, and a scary episode at work yesturday. I felt a sharp squeezing pain at the lower part of my chest/ top of my abdomen & then my earns began hurting, imparing my hearing. Episode lasted about 8 minutes.I cant imagine this being normal?
In the past, I have been prescribed prozac, paxil, and welbutrin for my mild anxiety/depression. For me, both prozac and paxil made me feel lethargic, fatigued, and kind of emotionally numb. I also had sexual side effects with prozac. I have found welbutrin to be most helpful. I find myself thinking less negative thoughts (or at least when they come up, I am able to more easily set them aside and move on).
Of course it can take a few months to few positive benefits of any of these types of drugs. Still, for me, it wouldn't be worth dealing with any negative effects just to wait for the possibility of future benefits. This has just been my perspective and experience.
