Have tried every antidepress. And every antipsy. I still can't stop checking things. I obsess that terrible things are goin to happen. I stare at things for long periods of time because I don't trust that whAt I'm checking is real... I'm freakin losing it and my dr doesn't know what to try.
Hmmm. Try this; think for a moment about your age, specifically your date of birth. Go online, download and print calendars for every say from your date of birth on through three months beyond the day you have all of these printed (doing all this will occupy your mind too).
Now, starting with the day after the day you were born, put your finger on that date and say out loud "Not one thing I could have worried about came to pass on this day." Now go to the next day. rest your finger on that day and say "Nothing I could have worried about came to pass on this day either."
As you get through the years and you're on the calendar of your 3rd birthday, you can change the sentence to read "Nothing I worried about came to pass on this day either." Many days later (I would suggest no more than 90 minutes of this at a time) you will get to yesterday, then, today. When you're on the today day you say "Nothing I worried about today has come to pass." As you progress into tomorrow, the day after, etc. Say "Nothing I'll worry about on this day will come to pass either."
Every future day will eventually slide into your past and join those thousands of days in proclaiming nothing you worry about every came to pass. Worry, therefor, will prove itself as futile, and as time itself as proven this to you through this project, you will be more motivated to do something else with your mind's energy rather than waste it on things that will never come to pass.
Even if you don't do this, you must admit that while you read this you were so engrossed you had no time to worry. Hence my point.
Best to you. Hope this helps.
