As mentioned have been on Prozac for 30 days and it's quite a roller-coaster started 5mg for about two weeks day 9-14 major crash slept for 5 days nearly then felt great went to 10mg for a week then 15mg now 20mg for last two days whilst I dont feel depressed and maybe just a hint of anxiety I feel kinda really flat lined I guess im just over the 4 week mark so another two weeks & will see what gives then.. any advice or encouragement would be great! :-)
camarchie; Yes sounds like you are doing everything right just want to correct you on one thing the peak level of Prozac is 6 to 8 weeks so you really should know for sure what is working right in the next 2 to 4 weeks but the way you have been doing and noticing changes lets hope for 2 weeks and it is very important that you take it at the same time each day and don't skip any doses. But yes it sure can be a roller coaster on these new type of medication and that that flat line feeling should change very soon too. You are so close to peaking out that you want to make sure to keep with it. Just to let you know if by chance you have problems but it really does not sound like you well once you have this medication in you if necessary the doctor can add or change to one in the same family and you won't have this roller coaster ride near as bad. You're doing fine so for your sake stick with it for now.
By the way that increases in anxiety, you are having now should let up to this is from the Prozac now that you're on the full dose so just remember it is going to go away. And use those tricks many of us do. breath deep and slow and exhale the same way when you feel something coming on. And this really helps you deal with things better. And stay positive in you thinking. You don't need to drag yourself down and you will be doing just fine. best wishes and think this way and it helps much more than medication alone chuck1957
Stick with it. You'll be great once it's working properly. Try some relaxation exercises if you feel like you are at a point they will work. If you really need to you can ask your doctor for a benzo - I'm sure you're reluctant to but it helped me when I started on Zoloft. May I ask why you were prescribed prozac and not a more evolved SSRI like Zoloft or Lexapro? Prozac is a very old drug and may have side effects you could avoid by trying a different SSRI. You've come this far so stick it out and don't be afraid to ask for help. Good luck! Trust me it will be worth it. I was diagnosed with OCD at age 8 and suffered with it til I was 30. To be free of such an insidious condition is wonderful.
I'm on my 4th wk and can't say I'm impressed.i had all the same as you but with dizziness.i sleep better but my sex drive is flat.i don't have depression but then I didn't really before.i wantedcro of the panic attacks which was ok up until yesterday and now they are back with avengence.does this mean Iprozac isn't for me and I need to change mess or could it be a last minute side affect and they could work great in 2 more weeks??? Help??? how are you now 2 weeks on?
