I have taken Aciphex for years to reduce stomach acid due to pain the acid causes. When I have taken breaks from the medication, my stomach pain returns quickly and is quite intense. But now I also have osteoporosis (no one else in my family has ever had bone problems, as far as I know), and in the past 4 years have badly broken my ankle and most recently, my shoulder due to falls from standing height. I needed extensive surgery for both, and my internist is concerned. I don’t know what to do. Are there proton pump inhibitors that don’t weaken your bones? Any other thoughts?
